Quayola - "FIGHTERS (I LOTTATORI)" (Algorithmic Marble Sculpture)

From July 25 to 28, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, at the Torart Factory (Via Carriona per Ravaccione snc, Loc. Piastra Torano, Carrara), Quayola presents the algorithmic sculpture "Fighters (I Lottatori)," a Carrara marble sculpture created using an algorithmically controlled robotic arm. This innovative artistic exploration combines the centuries-old traditions of marble sculpture with the potential of contemporary technology, representing a meeting point between past and future in the visual arts. Inspired by the expressive figures of Michelangelo's "The Prisoners," the work aims not only to emulate the Renaissance master's skill but also to redefine the boundaries of artistic expression through the use of advanced digital tools. The decision to leave the work unfinished, a hallmark of Quayola's practice, highlights the importance of capturing and documenting the creation process itself, emphasizing the poetics of the algorithm and robotic precision.
